colin and i are both sick. now as far as energy exerted today i think he's spent more- had had to go to a radio station then practice, then whole foods.. and i only had ella for a half day and she mostly napped and then i took a quick trip to meijer. [we are always playing games on who is more tired or who works harder...ha]
i'm laying here on the couch and can't move and colin says he will 'make dinner' [fishsticks] for saylor. so im watching him cut up the fishsticks 'the wrong way' and not immediately dip them in ketchup to cool them off as i do and i'm about to tell him to do that and thank goodness i catch myself. i would have been nice, and colin would have put the sticks in the ketchup--but it's totally unnecessary to say anything!
so many parents are stressed raising their little children. and not that colin and i don't have our moments but for some reason we are in a good rhythm [so far....] and i think a big thing that is important to remember is that both of you are raising them. so there will be two different ways of doing things. and women in general will always have a better idea of how many diapers are left, when their last bath was, what they've eaten today. we just will. and we need to cut the guys some slack. men need to be built up and feel like they are the MAN of the house. so i don't need to get on colin for the way he parks, or for leaving a light on.-- so colin doesn't change his diaper or forgets to feed him.... me nagging him will not make colin remember better, nor will it make him feel confident in his parenting. saylor wears a dirty diaper an hour longer than i would have let him- gasp. not the end of the world.
i just read kate gosselin's book- kate of 'jon and kate plus 8'. they are christians and i read the book in a couple days, fun book, easy read. then i got online and watched a couple episodes as i don't watch it much since we don't have cable. and i just hate hate the way kate treats jon. and i know- i've only seen a few episodes and i know we are only seeing a small piece of their life, and i knooow she has 8 small kids. but. i still cringe when i see the way she talks down to him. it makes me want to cry! thank goodness she is organized and precise, that comes in handy with all those kids-but it's a strength and a weakness i think.. anyway i really hate assumptions about people in the public eye and i hate negative gossip- i believe they are christians and i believe they love each other. ok sorry that was a tangent.
and to go a step further- when colin tells me to be sure to put my dishes away or roll his eyes that i forgot to put the clothes in the dryer, whatever- even if he isn't pleasant about it- how much easier things are when my response is a sincere apology. instead of defense. i've been making a point to do that lately.
all this to way- our husbands will treat us better when we encourage and love on them more! ok colin made him those fishsticks and i asked him to get saylor a drink as well- he did not. and you know what- he even left the oven on. he leaves the oven on a lot!! and i'm going to choose to laugh about that rather than belittle him. i remember that colin offered to get dinner for saylor and let me stay on the couch. and that's what i'm going to go thank him for.

sayonara starbucks!
i gave my notice today! and though i only worked about 10 hours a week i feel much free-er for some reason.well starbucks is exhausting and i work early,at the busiest hours,at the busiest store in central ohio.oh how i won't miss the 4:23am alarm!
colin is very visual, much more than me.he is more fashion....conscious? than me too. so i am always so amused at the outfits he puts on saylor! in general my friends and i agree that mom's are just wired to be more aware of 'all-things-baby' than dads. colin is a fantastic hands on daddy but his mind does not naturally retain...last bath, what he should eat, how many diapers are left,sleep/wake times....i think for the most part moms can't even help but store and recall all that info..so outfits-i came home once to a onesie on saylor backwards, snaps and tag there and colin unaware, that was hilarious. and he will occasionally dress him in pajamas.a couple weeks ago he put on a one piece outfit for him,and then put shorts over that...two different socks, a too small shirt, or not even getting him dressed at all.and today i came home and saylor was wearing a swimsuit for shorts.i pointed it out and he was like 'ya, i thought that looked wrong'...but you know what i love it! i think it's so funny. i love picturing him pulling out clothes like 'ya this is good, this will work'... although i'm sure he'd say all of saylor's clothes aren't organized enough for him to find something... that's my next task as an 'official' SAHM [stay-at-home-mom]...i have been so very blessed to have friends with older sons loan or give me clothes [thank you jenny and holly!!!!! and kaitlin and carri....! and our parents love to get clothes for him too] i have seriously bought saylor..maybe 10 articles of clothing? in a year and a half.oh my gosh that's amazing...i'm keeping out one of his huge storage boxes so i can spread the love and loan some clothes....but i don't seem to have enough room in his dresser for all his summer and fall clothes. i need to utilize the closet more.colin's a big closet clothes hanger,i prefer the dresser and only hang some things.and we also hang our clothes opposite-his front of shirt faces to the right, mine to the left.is this because i write with my left hand?! haha..alright stream of consciousness should stop.
going to the doctor today, saylor has a hacky cough that sounds like croup to me.it's waking my poor son up at night in coughing fits and crying so we'll see what they say.i'm sick of all the sickness in our home!

love for lindy
one of my best friend's dog is dying and will have to be put to sleep. it is notable as i grew up with this dog and i love her and her family so much.i've known jayme since we were in our respective mother's wombs. they have had this dog for close to 16 years and i feel like it's the first dog i really loved.this is the only picture i have that i can post.it's jayme's sister kelly and lindy.lindy is cuter in real life than this picture.kelly is always cute.

prayers and love to the family and what an amazing fam they are.fiercely close, super hilarious... i shall have to do a whole other post on the doyle family.i love them so much!
colin has taken to eating a turkey/spinach/tomato sandwich, and after polishing that off [i just wanted to write 'polishing' so bad] he makes and eats a pb&j. often a triple decker. i find this very amusing.and yesterday he ate THREE peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. and a turkey sandwich. going through bread like mad in the rigsby home.
saylor has learned to stick out his tongue and point at his nose when asked there they are... colin also has taught him 'smell your breath' and he blows out 'haaah'. it's only cute becaue he's a baby... and yesterday he- well first he ate a marker and we had to scrub brown off his face, hands and tongue [awesome] and then he figured out how to climb onto our coffee table.he has since fallen off it about 10 times but it's more fun than scary.
put saylor down for a nap...i'm so tired myself but should eat something.hm nap or eat nap or eat.....ok i'll just heat up my coffee i brought home from work....dum dee dum AAGH and i somehow throw the entire [grande] verona all over my kitchen. before i clean it up i quickly start a pot of coffee cuz darnit i'm gonna have some.then i clean up my mess and then take out the cream i just bought last night to discover i bought heavy whipping cream what the heck.i think i'm gonna try to make some whip cream out of it though because what else am i to do with it?
and random story number two
we pick up some things at kroger [not our favorite grocery but it's right there] and colin checks out as i run and grab some yogurt.i arrive as he's about to pay and i'm thinking sheesh that seems alot for what we bought.i can usually guess within 5 dollars how much everything will cost.. is this me or all women? we get in the car i snag the receipt-he forgot to use the kroger plus card.[though the chick didn't ask him for it either] there is no point in shopping there if you don't use that stupid card. pull over colin.i hop out, run in to the customer service and get $16.01 cash back. aah that's more like it.... then i lose the $16.no idea where it went.i apparently threw it out the window but it's cool, i still have the penny.
